NeuroTribes

Thanks to Emma's report, and really her semester-long seminar on the challenges and achievements of those who've been diagnosed as "on the spectrum," I've been motivated to pick up this excellent historical account. NeuroTribes: The Legacy of Autism and the Future of Neurodiversity.

Speaking of Joe Biden... 😉
“By autistic standards, the “normal” brain is easily distractible, is obsessively social, and suffers from a deficit of attention to detail and routine. Thus people on the spectrum experience the neurotypical world as relentlessly unpredictable and chaotic, perpetually turned up too loud, and full of people who have little respect for personal space.”

  1. I assume many will read the lengths of the autistic parents and think them strange. I find strange things relaxing, weither not they are harmful does not matter. There are things that are beyond my understanding but I am always trying to bridge my own knowledge with other's perspectives. Around middle school, I thought that the point of a science fair was to learn, my projects were more in line with the scholars week presentations I see today. I did a science fair project on how MRI's work. I thank everyone for their patience with my meme like("in this TED talk I'll explain") insistence of sharing my experience. I am glad that I was able to expand your knowledge and interests.
