Poverty isn't a lack of character; it's a lack of cash - Rutger Bregman

"Ideas can and do change the world," says historian Rutger Bregman, sharing his case for a provocative one: guaranteed basic income. Learn more about the idea's 500-year history and a forgotten modern experiment where it actually worked -- and imagine how much energy and talent we would unleash if we got rid of poverty once and for all.

I watched this ted talk and found it to be really interesting. The idea behind it is that if everyone is given a guartentee basic income (enough for basic needs like food, shelter, and education) It would obliterate poverty all together, and give everyone an equal chance to live life without the troubles and stress that come with poverty. I wanted to know what you guys think would have to happen for the U.S. to even consider doing this for our economy. Do you think this could ever happen in our life time?
