RED PLAN-IT Elon Musk reveals NEW prediction for when humans will land on Mars using his Starship rocket

The SpaceX CEO tweeted that he predicts humans will touch down on the Mars in 2029.

The SpaceX Starship, a 400 foot reusable rocket equipped with one of the most powerful engines ever built will be the vessel that brings humans to the red planet.

Since 2020, iterations of the Starship have completed four test launches and landings, reaching heights of over 10 kilometers on each trip.

Plans to take a crewed mission on a trip around the Moon in the Starship are slated for 2023.

The SpaceX site has dubbed the mission dear Moon and Japanese billionaire and space tourist Yusaku Maezawa will be among the crew.

The Starship vessel, being an asset of a private company, comes with a user guide so customers can find out if working with SpaceX is right for them.

The guide explicitly states "SpaceX was founded with the goal of making life multi-planetary".

Musk told Business Insider that he expects a ticket for a Starship ride to be as low as one million dollars, depending on the destination.

Currently, a ride on SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket is roughly $62million.

With Mars travel on the horizon, where does that leave the respect for Earth?

Do you think such innovation would alter/setback the already weak sustainability projects in place?

  1. Wow. Honestly, sometimes I struggle to even wrap my head around the fact that people have already traveled to space and back (like seriously). I can't really imagine space travel being commercial and accessible to the public... well, to the very, very, very wealthy public. I think it would be cool, but I am always Team Earth.

  3. I find it interesting that we have opted to simply leave earth rather than fix it. Elon Musk is on track to be the first Trillionaire by 2024. We know he cares at least a little bit (cue long post about his contribution to Ukraine), so why is he deadset on space when he could be using his wealth to better our current planet first?
Unless of course his plan is to encourage disbursement of humans, which could work to lower some of our issues in the short run, but the long run isn't looking too hot.
