Ukraine Hospitals Could Run Out of Oxygen Supplies in 24 Hours as War Disrupts Health Services, WHO Says

"Ukrainian hospitals could run out of oxygen supplies in the next 24 hours as Russia’s invasion disrupts transportation across the country, putting thousands of more lives at risk, according to the World Health Organization. The WHO, in a statement Sunday, said trucks are unable to transport oxygen supplies from plants to hospitals around the country, including the capital, Kyiv, which faced a barrage of Russian missile attacks overnight"

The country faces an increased risk of Covid contagion as civilians flee the Russian invasion. Another Covid outbreak combined with increasing numbers of people injured in the war will put even more pressure on Ukraine’s already stretched healthcare system.

  1. As if the general humanitarian outrage of the invasion weren't enough. Our species really needs to grow up. Soon.

  2. The Ukraine crisis continues to illuminate issues that should have safety plans to fall back on. In the event of war, I think the WHO should have their own stockpile of relief items such as oxygen, blankets, nonperishable foods, clean water, etc. The world can't expect every country to be able to stockpile enough of these things by themselves.
